How to Create Your Own Blog

Hello my Neipchens!
Mrs. Isaacs here, and I wanted to explain how to make your own blog. We can work on the blogs at school, but, unfortunately, the firewall won't let me create blogs, and so below you'll find step-by-step instructions on making your blog.

If you are still confused and need help, bring me your email address and password. I'll take it home, and create a default blog and then we can work on the design of it at school. If you create a blog at home, please make sure that you know your URL, email address, and password so you can get on it at school to change things around. I'm working on a scroll widget with all of your blogs, so we must have a grab button for everyone and all the blogs set up before summer starts! :-)

How to create your own blog:
Make a gmail email address.
Click on the "Create a Blog" button on the top right corner of this blog. There you will be taken to
a page that looks like this:

That will take you to a page that looks like this:

The final step creates the blog. Remember, we need your URL, your email address and password in order to work on it here at school!

Comment if you have a question, and I'll comment back when I check!

Have fun, and remember, your voice matters!

The Big Trip!

Gems is a running program designed just for girls. It is so much fun, and we push are limits to see how good we can get at running. We meet every Monday and Thursday. It is so fun. So Gems is taking a field trip to a hotel. We have registered to run in a race that goes around the Louisville zoo. I'm so excited, because after the race we get to explore the zoo and then go to the waterpark. I don't know of any other school that has a program as cool as this!

Stuck on Zelda!

Finally, I have got it. the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. So far, it is a pretty good game, but honestly I thought it would be better. When I looked on the cover it says "THE BIGGEST ADVENTURE OF ALL TIME". I'm like, all right! But when I started to play, I'm having trouble. I watched the ending on YouTube and it was epic. Link, the guy who saves Zelda, has to fight Gannon, the evil-ugly-dwarf-king-villian, for at least 3 to 5 times. So yeah ... it's gonna be hard!
I give this game 4 paws

ShadowLink12 out!

Running for a Playground!

My school is doing a fun run. You get pledges from people you know to sponsor you. You have to run, skip, gallop, or jump around the track up to 35 times. The prizes are not based on how many laps you run, but on how many sponsors you get. There are many levels of prizes. We are this as a fundraiser to make money so we can have a better playground.

Come Play With Me!

All right dudes, welcome back!!
That was a very long spring break. Now, what I am talking about today is a free Minecraft server. If you are play Minecraft, log in the game, go to multi-player, add server, and then type in redrex08 and then go to the IP address and type in 69.142.162.11:12785 and say that I am a BFF of sugercube1 (that's me! :-). This way you can play with everybody.

Sorry guys, this is a short blog today!
Bye!

Meet Rob Buyea!

Welcome to our first author interview!
Meet Rob Buyea, author of Because of Mr. Terupt.

Rob is an elementary school teacher who is a writer at heart. He was inspired to write after seeing the wonderful work his students were doing. At first, he wrote short stories, but one day he had an idea that really excited him. He joined a writer's group, and eventually shared his work with the world.

These questions were asked by our fourth grades. Enjoy!
Other than Terupt being a dollar word, is the name symbolic in any way?
No.  I sat down with some letters that I knew would total $1.00, scrambled them around, and came up with Terupt.  I knew when I started the story that the teacher's name needed to be a dollar word, and that Luke would reveal it at the very end.

Who would you like to play Mr. Terupt when the movie comes out? What about the other characters?
No idea for Mr. T.  Somebody that's good-looking, I guess.  I like how you make it sound as if it will be a movie, though.  The power of positive thinking!

Is there going to be a sequel? If so, when does it come out?
YES!  Mr. Terupt Falls Again will be released on October 9th.  You can go to my website and pre-order it now.

How come Mr. Terupt didn't have any family in the story? Do we get to find out what happened to him before he became a teacher? What's his backstory?
The answers to this are in the next book.  I'm glad you're asking.

Do you have other books you are working on, and, if so, are they for children or adults?
Yes, I do have others.  I'm working on another middle grade novel right now.

How did you come up with the idea of Mr. Terupt, and why did you write it from the perspective of the students? Why not from Mr. Terupt's point of view?
The kids came to me as voices.  They were in my head and started telling me the story and giving me ideas.  I was able to use a lot of real-life experiences from my classroom days as an elementary school teacher to jumpstart ideas.  I had loads of  fun changing the real events and making them better for the story.  I was excited to be each of the kids and tell their stories.

Are you still teaching or is writing now your full-time job?
I'm still teaching, but this year i'll be teaching less as I'm trying to do more with my writing and school visits.

Happy Reading!
Rob Buyea

Thanks so much for being a guest on our blog!
